Potty!
Dylan has been so enthusiastic about the potty lately. Occasionally I'll ask if he wants to sit on the potty (always a yes) But, most of the time, he's ASKING to sit on the potty. We go in and read for a little while - he squeezes as hard as he can, hoping to hear the potty sing to him. If nothing happens, that's fine too - he gets up - we cheer and clap and he flushes the potty. He is even asking and wanting to use the potty at Nana & Grandma's house too. Who knows how long this phase will last, but I'm excited about it!! He always feels so proud, he smiles as big as he can when he gets to flush the potty. Never in my life would I have dreamed that I would be so excited about peeing on the toilet.
Our BIG Boy.
Dylan had his 18 Month Well Child Check today... All in the same day I passed on some of his newborn clothes, it all goes by WAY too fast. At the checkup, Dylan impressed me - as always. We waited in the exam room for a while and as soon as the door opened Dylan says
"Doctah?". He proceeded to tell the "Doctah" about Jacie and Moxie & "no-no". He had lots to say about the trucks and tractors outside... and was simply amazed at all of the special tools the doctor used to examine him. He's just so smart, I had no idea an 18 month old could be so smart.
Needless to say, Dylan has not really grown at all :) A whopping 21 pounds (5%), 33" and (29%) a 19" head circumference (79%). He's a peanut, to state the obvious. Going through his clothes this evening I realized, Dylan still wears a LOT of his 3 month onesies, and this winter I don't think we have to buy him anything new!
Man of the House
With Shawn being away again, Dylan has taken on the role of "man of the house". Lately we've been using the woodstove every night, each night Dylan helps me a little more. Tonight, he really knew the routine. We went out on the porch to get kindling and wood. Once we were back inside, Dylan got the shovel and the bucket to scoop out the old ashes (funny, because he usually likes to skip this part). Once he "helped" shovel the ashes out, he started to ball up newspaper and toss it in, then in went the kindling - and before I had a chance to light it, Dylan was hauling a large log over to me. He just cracks me up. Once he saw flames, he says "ooooh hot!" and shuts the door for me. He knows not to touch once it gets going - but LOVES to help when the woodstove is still cold. Thank goodness for him, you should see ME trying desperately to start a fire! I think if it wasn't for his help - we'd just be cold :)

Dylan's Words
I'm really really bad at keeping Dylan's blog up to date. Dylan has LOTS of new words lately, and two new phrases...
The phrases..."Mommy go?" and "Dada Do?"
Words (including names) that Dylan says often are...
Two ( I have to say one...)
Bampie
Nana
Ga-ma (Grandma)
Bampa (Grandpa)
Kenna (Mackinna, this is very few and far between.. but it does happen!)
Tee-Tee (Auntie)
Joe
Gi-Gi (Gina, his teacher at daycare)
Go!
Tractor
Truck
Buh-bye!
Robby
Kun-kle (Uncle)
Nanah (Savannah, his best buddy at daycare!)
Laylee (Haley, Uncle Logans girlfriend)
Mommy (I used to be Mama, but sometime in the past few months I have change to Mommy and I absolutely adore it)
Jacie
Mack-eee (Moxie)
Please
Thank you
Up
Now!
No, no (usually to the dogs!... for the longest time when you asked him what a dog says he would say - no, no dog!)
Butt
Cracker
Ba-ba (drink)
DucK (emphasis on the CK)
Yep!
I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of them now. He is constantly surprising me. It's truly incredible how smart he is. As a new Mom, I had no idea what I was in for - it is the most rewarding thing anyone will ever experience.
Tractor!
Dylan is such a boy. He is obsessed with tractors. He has a tractor book that he got for his birthday and it is his absolute favorite, I'm pretty sure we read it close to 20 times a day. This morning, on the way to daycare, Shawn sent a picture message to my phone of a tractor. I passed the phone back to Dylan to see and he says "Ooooh, tractor!" - in his deepest voice of course. He then kissed the phone and said "Thank you! Thank you!" He was really, really impressed. I'm pretty sure that was the highlight of his day. I love him!

Incident Report
When I arrived at daycare on Friday, I was informed that I needed to sign an incident report. Lately, this has been quite common. Once, Dylan fell off the slide and cut his knee, and the second time Dylan fell
of a tricyle and into the fence. I fully expected this to be another example of Dylan's adventerous, crazy behavior... I was shocked to find out that Dylan had bit another kid! I know it's something that most babies do - but I have never seen him bite! I have a feeling that this is just the beginning of our trips to the "principals" office. I think we're in for it. And I'd like to thank Shawn for being such a hellion growing up, because we're going to pay for all of the years of his craziness!

Dylan has recently found that he truly enjoys singing. More specifically he loves to sing row, row, row your boat... I sing the first verse and then he repeats it something like "ra ra ra yaBA" (very quickly and big, loud emphasis on BA).. I sing the second verse and he sings something that I can't even begin to type, although it's the same every time... I can tell you, it ends in a "sssssss..." for stream. He loves the merrily, merrily... He says "MmmMmmMm..DA" Da for dream... Too cute! He continues to amaze me with his new tricks every day. What a joy it is to have him around. He can always make me laugh and he is just so incredibly smart! I attempted to get this on video, but he is much more interested in holding the camera then singing for the camera... eventually I might catch it, if he's not looking!

Dylan's a Big Boy!

I have been thinking about buying a potty for Dylan and just putting it in the bathroom until he shows interest. I finally bought one today (the exact one in the picture). Dylan sat on it as soon as it was put together, wasn't really interested. A couple of minutes later he came back over and wanted to sit down, so I helped him. Right after he sat down, the potty started singing, which means - he peed!!! :) I think I gave him 100 high fives and we clapped and yelled, he thought it was a blast. Later in the evening, I took his pull-up (yes, pull-up) off of him, he started to pee... I quickly put him on the potty, and he finished peeing! Again, very excited to be cheered for and for the millions of high fives I gave him. I'm just so proud! Even if he doesn't do it for another month, it just makes me so proud! He's such a smart boy!

New Words
Dylan has lots of new words lately. He's really getting to be a big boy! Some of the latest are "tee tee" (Auntie), "tank you", bubble, blue, Nana, GaMa (Grandma), Cuck (yuck), Wow!, hot, Jacie, Dog (pronounced Doe-G)... Grandma and I swear he attempted Mackinna one day while looking at her picture, but we haven't heard it since... and the words that continue to be his favorite are BuhBye and Dada.
Daddy's Home!

As most everyone knowns, Shawn has recently taken a job that requires him to be out of state. Dylan hasn't seen him in 2 weeks. Frequently Dylan goes to the stairs and yells "Dada! Buh-Bye!" over and over... Or he will wander through the house yelling "Dada?" looking for him. It's really sad and cute all in one. Last night, Shawn came home for the first time in two weeks.. I convinced Dylan to stay awake with marshmellows and a movie :) At 9:15 Shawn opens the door, and as soon as Dylan saw him he said "oooOooo OooOO" He was so excited to see Shawn. He just couldn't stop kissing him. Dylan was cudlding with me to go to sleep at around 10-10:15 and Shawn had walked away to get a drink, apparently Dylan wasn't done cuddling with Daddy, he screamed until Shawn came back. Dylan really, really loves his Daddy - and seeing the two of them together just makes my heart melt! We can't wait until Daddy comes home again!!
Thank you!

Dylan and I were in the Dunkin Donuts drive thru Friday morning, we brought munchkins for his class and the teachers. As we were waiting at the window, Dylan was in the back saying 'MmMmmmm MmMmmmm'... The man at the window leaned out to say hello, Dylan thought it was just too funny! Finally, the man passed us our box of munchkins and immediately Dylan yells from the back "Tank You!" - So polite!!

Happy Easter!
So far, Dylan is loving Easter.. He wasn't a fan of the pancakes or eggs for breakfast - but he sure does like Peeps! Here are a few pictures from this morning... He especially loved the plastic easter eggs.. He played with one of them for at least 30 minutes this morning. Happy Easter!
New Snuggie!
As most everyone knows, Dylan has a 'snuggie' that is the fix all for most everything. If he's upset - it almost never fails, you give him his 'snug' and he is instantly happy.. The snug that he has is really getting worn out, not to mention brown (instead of white) & stinky. After a LOT of searching, I found the exact same one on E-bay... It finally came in the mail, as you see in the above picture, the new snug is the one on the floor - that Dylan was repeatedly stomping on. He's laughing as he holds onto his stinky old snug.. Needless to say, he has no interest in this new snug. I think it might take a few times through the mud, some bottles & juice dumped on it and then MAYBE Dylan will think about using it.
