With Shawn being away again, Dylan has taken on the role of "man of the house". Lately we've been using the woodstove every night, each night Dylan helps me a little more. Tonight, he really knew the routine. We went out on the porch to get kindling and wood. Once we were back inside, Dylan got the shovel and the bucket to scoop out the old ashes (funny, because he usually likes to skip this part). Once he "helped" shovel the ashes out, he started to ball up newspaper and toss it in, then in went the kindling - and before I had a chance to light it, Dylan was hauling a large log over to me. He just cracks me up. Once he saw flames, he says "ooooh hot!" and shuts the door for me. He knows not to touch once it gets going - but LOVES to help when the woodstove is still cold. Thank goodness for him, you should see ME trying desperately to start a fire! I think if it wasn't for his help - we'd just be cold :)
