Ouch!

Dylan had his first official "boo-boo" today. He was trying to be tricky (what a surprise!) and was attempting to stand on his Jimmy Johnson Racecar steering wheel, to climb to the window. Before I could catch him, he slipped, fell over backwards and bit his lip. His mouth was bleeding and he now has a fat lip - His first real boo-boo...

Our attempts to create a "Steve & Blue" Birthday Photo...

We're still working on the perfect picture, as you can see - we had lots of fun!

Big Boy Potty

Tonight I took off Dylan's diaper (he prefers no clothes - in fact, don't we all?) At night he usually runs around with no diaper for quite a while. As soon as I took off his diaper tonight, he was crawling as fast as he could away from me. He was on a mission. He ended up in the bathroom. Standing up at the toilet. He loves the toilet, and loves to hear it flush. So there he was, standing at the toilet - and he peed on it! Can't blame him for trying right? Maybe this means potty training will be easy?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah right.

And the challenge continues...

One last update on our monkey...

Dylan is gradually becoming more and more difficult. I recently posted 1. the escape from the highchair (when buckled) and 2. the escape from the bathtub. This evening I caught Dylan attempting to climb the coffee table, a wooden lobster trap that is great for climbing because of all of the spaces in between the wood. He dives off of our bed, sometimes feet first - but it's much more fun head first. He has no fear - he climbs from toy to toy. The other day I caught him crawling into his portable swing, standing in the seat and jumping to make it swing...

Jean did warn me of the difficulties she had with Shawn as a little boy (the most terrifying, I think, is the mattress being thrown out the window - please no!) For some reason I guess I was thinking we'd have it pretty easy because Dylan has been SUCH an easy baby... I think he may have been saving it all up -gradually, we are seeing more and more how much trouble we are in as the years come! HELP!

Wandering thoughts a little...While in Walmart I saw a mother with TWINS the age of Dylan, I had to stop her and tell her how amazing she was for even DARING to take two babies grocery shopping... I can't imagine having two Dylan's and he is EASY! As a new Mom, I'm terrified and excited for the challenges that lie ahead of me. I guess my point is, I'm glad I have one amazing little one - because my hands are becoming more and more full. Hats off to those who handle infants & toddlers together or more than one baby - or even worse, toddlers (running) together. The thought of it gives me nightmares! Christine - you are my role model and you are an excellent Mom!

DAYCARE ADVENTURES

Our daycare provider, Jenn, continues to be amazed by Dylan every day.

Her first real surprise was Dylan's "VROOOOOOM" as he drove one of the toy trucks - she had no idea he knew how to make that noise, or to apply it to the correct toy.

The next surprise was just yesterday - Dylan is extremely fond of her two daughters, Vivian & Julia. Vivian, 3, is not as fond of Dylan lately as he continues to try and chew her toys and touch her (she just hates it) But, she is the first one to speak up if Dylan is crying and she thinks someone might be neglecting him! Julia & Dylan have a special bond. Yesterday, Julia, 10, left the playroom and went to her own room and shut the door. Dylan apparently crawled as fast as he could to try and catch her, but was too late. He screamed outside of her door - banging on the door and yelling "YA YA"... which we are assuming is the code name for Julia. He continues to point at Julia and say YaYa, so I'm pretty sure that's who it is.

& the latest... Today, Jenn swears Dylan picked up a toy phone, put it to his ear, and said "hello?" I'm quite sure he did, talking on the phone really makes him crack up lately - and he's getting pretty good at responding to the person on the other end.

ET Phone Home.

Dylan's latest obsession is his pointer finger. His right hand pointer finger is always out. These days, he expects that if you are holding him - and he points at something he wants, you are supposed to go there. He spent his entire evening pointing and touching tonight. He had to touch all of our picture frames, the paper towels, the chairs, the couch, pillows, anything that came in sight. All that comes to mind is the movie that Uncle Logan is still, to this day, terrified of - ET.
He also continues to enjoy kissing pictures. He's not such a fan of kissing people. For a long time, the only pictures he would kiss were Mackinna & Kadens on our fridge. It has now turned into any picture, including the woman on the box of Nana's newest nylons. He also kissed the news reported on WGME13 tonight. When he does it, he always says "awwwwwwww..." and ends with a big smile. Our little Dylan is just so special!

Bath Tub Escape!

Not only are we having trouble keeping Dylan in his high chair (even while buckled) But apparently the bathtub is now going to be a challenge. Tonight he BEGGED to get in, continued to crawl back to the bathroom and stand at the tub and yell "HI!". I put him in, and no more than a minute later, he was showing off his climbing skills. He is escaping the bathtub with absolutely NO help. He does this all own his own - tricky boy!

Funny Noises.

More tricks! Dylan really enjoys this one.

Bye Bye!

After a LOT of convincing, I got Dyl to show off one of his many new tricks :)

Smart Alec!

Today, Dylan was sick so I stayed home with him. All day he kept saying "Mama, Mama, Mama, Mama". I finally said to him, "Dylan, you are almost a year old - and you still don't say Dada". Sure enough - just as soon as I said that, he looks at me and says "Dada". Like he was trying to prove me wrong - big smile on his face. This would be a pretty unbelievable story, but his Grampie witnessed it too :)

Driving like a big boy!

This was the most exciting part of todays ice fishing.

Bumping Up & Down

"Vroooom! Vrooooom!"

" I LOVE this wagon!"

In my little red wagon outside for the first time!

Ice Fishing Derby

So today was Dylan's FIRST ever ice fishing derby - although we never left Fat Frank's hotdog stand. Honestly, I was thinking it would be a little more exciting. Dylan did get to enjoy time with hist Aunt & Uncles, cousins and Grandma & Grandpa - so I'm sure that was good enough for him. I just had the idea we might see at least ONE fish while we were there! Maybe at Dylan's next ice fishing extravaganza we will be able to see what ice fishing actually is!
